Holiday Helper Drive and Operation Christmas Child🎁

The spirit of giving shined bright at Barbers Hill ISD's annual Holiday Helper drive. Thanks to 114 sponsors—including student groups, school staff, churches, and local organizations—this year's effort brought Christmas joy to 316 children from 118 families. From toys to bicycles, our community came together once again to ensure every child had something special under the tree.

Barbers Hill ISD's 20-year partnership with Operation Christmas Child also continued strong this year, with students and staff packing nearly 400 gift-filled shoeboxes for children worldwide. Led by retired teacher Karen Webb since 2004, this effort through Old River Baptist Church joins Samaritan's Purse's global mission that has reached over 220 million children across 170 countries. Every shoebox, packed with toys, school supplies, and essentials, represents our community's commitment to spreading joy where it's needed most. Thank you, Barbers Hill, for showcasing the true spirit of Christmas!

Education Grands Awarded

The Barbers Hill ISD Education Foundation made the holidays brighter for local educators, awarding $287,100.50 in grants to 71 teachers. The December 6th 'Grant Prize Patrol' delivered checks ranging from $400 to $20,000, funding innovative programs that will benefit nearly 8,000 students in the 2025-2026 school year. This marks the Foundation's 15th round of grants since 2010, having distributed over $2 million to date. The latest awards support diverse initiatives across art, science, math, technology, reading, athletics, and safety programs. Operating as an independent non-profit, the Foundation continues its tradition of surprising teachers with grants alongside cheerleaders and local business partners, much like Publishers Clearing House – but with education as the big winner.

The beautiful thing about learning is that no one can take it from you.
