City Scoop
Head’s up, Mont Belvieu! The new traffic signal at Edgewood and Eagle Drive will become operational this coming Friday, December 27th. Please use extra caution in this area as our community adjusts to the new traffic pattern. 🚦
Residential trash pick-up is as follows for this week: Monday & Tuesday trash will be collected Monday (that’s today, folks!). Wednesday & Thursday trash will be collected Thursday. 🗑️
🎁 The City is providing a special post-Christmas disposal service for solid waste customers. From December 23rd through noon on December 26th, you can drop off your holiday trash at dedicated receptacles located at the Public Works Building (3811 Perry Avenue). Please note: This service is exclusively for City of MB solid waste customers.
CLOSURES: The City of Mont Belvieu offices along with the Chambers County Solid Waste Landfill & Box Sites, will be closed December 24th & 25th.
LOOKING AHEAD: Starting in 2025, Eagle Drive will undergo a significant transformation between FM 565 and SH-146. The project will expand the current two-lane undivided road into a four-lane divided boulevard. This upgrade aims to better serve our growing community, especially with new developments emerging north of FM 565. This project is grant-funded.
Effective January 1, 2025, Chambers County vehicle owners will no longer have to get their vehicles inspected prior to registration. They will however, continue to pay the $7.50 fee bundled into their registration. 🚗
All my bills say “Outstanding.” I guess I’m good to go.
Scoop on Barbers Hill Sports 🏀
BOYS SOCCER: Barbers Hill's basketball dominance continued unabated on Friday as they crushed Lee Ganders 77-27, marking their third consecutive victory. This win follows a remarkable two-game stretch where they overwhelmed opponents by an average margin of 15 points.
The Eagles have been soaring to new heights this season, with this game marking their sixth victory by 21 or more points. Their high-octane offense has been particularly impressive lately, averaging 74.4 points per game while winning eight of their last nine matchups. With this latest triumph, Barbers Hill improves to a commanding 14-4 record this season.
GIRLS BASKETBALL: Barbers Hill's girls basketball powerhouse was on full display Friday night as the Eagles soared to a dominant 77-27 conference victory over Lee on their home court. The 50-point margin showcases what's become a familiar story this season as the team has dominated in many of their games.
BOYS SOCCER: The start of Barbers Hill's season took a disappointing turn on Friday as they fell to their longtime rivals, the Goose Creek Memorial Patriots, in a 4-0 shutout on the road. The loss extends a frustrating streak for the Eagles, who have now dropped six straight matches against the Patriots.
Looking ahead, Barbers Hill will have an extended break to regroup and strategize before their next match. They'll return to action on New Year's Eve, facing St. Thomas Catholic in a noon kickoff on December 31st.
