Veteran’s Day Spotlight: Xavier Bean

I’m 29 years old, born on February 28, 1995, in Woodville, Texas—proudly raised right here in the heart of East Texas. I graduated from West Brook High School in Beaumont, Texas, and by the summer of 2012, I was already enlisted in the Marines.

I officially kicked off my journey in the Marine Corps with boot camp in San Diego, California, on October 29, 2012. I spent the next four years with 1st Battalion, 8th Marines, as an infantryman with the MOS of 0341 Mortarman. During my time in service, I had the honor of deploying twice to Afghanistan as part of Operation Enduring Freedom. It was during one of these tours that I was awarded a Purple Heart after being shot in the left leg while trying to save a fellow Marine during an intense firefight.

I ended my military career with the rank of Corporal (E-4). Along the way, I also deployed to several other places, including Colombia, the Philippines, Thailand, Australia, Japan, and Africa.

After my time in the military, I moved to Mont Belvieu and graduated in 2018 from Lamar Institute of Technology with an Associate's in Applied Science (PTech) in Process Technology. I’m also proud to be a third-generation logger and business owner, specializing in land clearing. Family, service, and hard work are at the core of everything I do.
